Assesment of Ordinances
WHAT YOU CAN DO

Last summer Scenic Maryland initiated a statewide assessment of ordinances regulating off-premise outdoor advertising signs (billboards). This study is the necessary first step in effectively addressing the growing threat of billboard blight in Maryland. It will prove to be a useful tool in raising awareness

GOALS:
1) This study will result in a report card of the findings as well as recommendations for local governments to use to strengthen existing ordinances.

2) Post information on the web

3)
Send information by direct mail to government officials and others in Maryland.

Scenic Arnold

The Scenic Assessment project in Kent and Caroline counties (co-sponsored with Eastern Shore Heritage, Inc.) has given us the opportunity to test methodologies for scenic policy evaluation and scenic resource identification that can become models for planning throughout the state.
